The Farbkreisfarben (color-circle paints) are watercolors based on Goethe's color-circle. They include the primary colors red, blue and yellow and possess high spectral purity and transparency. With these three color-circle colors, the complete color-circle can be created. They can be used in all usual ways and are suitable for all known watercoloring techniques. Stockmar watercolors are ideal for transparent painting. They are produced from gum arabic and the finest light-resistant color pigments, have a very high yield-value and remain completely water-soluble when dry. The color tones have been chosen so that they can be mixed to yield all intermediate shades without losing their brilliance and intensity. Mixed with white, the watercolors can be used for non-transparent painting.
To use: With a paintbrush, put a dab of paint into a small container and add drops of water with a second paintbrush, then mix together. Repeat this procedure until you have the desired color tone and the paint has an inklike consistency. If you want the paint to be brilliant, use less water; if you want the paint to shimmer slightly, add more water. Screw top containers are useful for storing left over mixed paint which will be ready for the next time.
